Third Annual Newport Review Flash Fiction Contest
Winners Announced

Winning stories have been chosen in the 2007 Newport Review Flash Fiction Contest. We are happy this year to award publication and prizes to a veteran writer, Bob Thurber, as well as two writers new to the world of publishing, Natalie Beach and Emily Oliver.

First Prize of $100 and publication was awarded to Bob Thurber, North Attleboro, MA, for “Wooden Matches."

Second Prize of $75 and publication was awarded to Natalie K. Beach, New Haven, CT, for “Morning Sickness."

Third Prize of $50 and publication was awarded to Emily Oliver, Newtown, CT, for “Marks.”

Two stories were awarded Honorable Mention: “Will-O’-the-Wisp" by Natalie K. Beach, New Haven, CT, and “Clear Vision,” by Dimetra Makris, Amherst, MA.

The deadline for the contest was October 31, 2007. The first, second and third prize winning stories will be published in the Spring 2008 issue of Newport Review. Honorable mention stories will be published in either the Spring or Summer issue.

Word Count: Short-short stories up to 750 words
Entry fee: $7 per story, 3 for $20
Mail manuscripts w/check or money order (made out to Newport Review) to:
